![]() ![]() I was so hungry after delivering Little and while the hospital provides daily meals for mom, it is really helpful to have your favorite, healthy snacks on hand for in between and those middle of the night nursing sessions. Your hospital will likely provide a big hospital cup that they’ll keep full of water for you, but I like to also have a back up water bottle. Just be sure to have a non-white pillow case so it doesn’t accidentally get mixed up and lost with the hospital pillows. My own pillow was way more comfortable than the standard hospital pillows. Your own pillow – admittedly not a necessity, but it made a big difference for me.Book/magazines, something to do if you end up in labor for a while and are able to read.Toiletries Bag ( exact) // Nursing Pads ( exact) // Yoga Pants ( similar) // Gray Leggings ( exact) Other Maxi Pads – I ended up using the hospital’s pads, but they were really uncomfortable with my first, so I packed my own just in case for my second.Face wash & moisturizer (Face wipes are a great alternative here since you can use them from the comfort of your bed!).This is a time when all those travel sized toiletries come in handy! After labor and delivery, I felt like a whole new person when I was able to take a shower and wash my face, put on clean clothes, and a little bit of makeup. For me, my list looks like the following, but it might be different for you. You’ll want to have all your everyday toiletries in a bag and ready to go. I always just wear the underwear from the hospital, but if you want to pack your own, just make sure you don’t pack your nice undies. And if you wear slippers, throw them in the bag, too! Socks, shoes, slippers – Personally, I really like the hospital socks, but you’ll want to pack a couple pairs of your own plus shoes that you can easily walk around in.Something comfy that you are ok taking pictures in if you choose. I’d pick comfy pants and a loose fitted shirt or a dress. Going home outfit – This is up to you.Although, I just stayed in nursing tanks and cardigans. My favorites are yoga pants with a fold over waist (since the waist can also be unfolded to go over your tummy if you like). 2 pairs of stretchy, comfortable pants.I just toss on sweater over the camisoles, and feel pulled together, but still comfortable and easily able to nurse. 2-3 Nursing Camisoles + Comfy cardigan – This seems to be the easiest combo for me during the day.Nursing Bra/Sleep Bra – I usually end up using sleep nursing bras but you might want to take another bra if you prefer.I have this shorts/top set that I love (another Target fave). Soft, comfy pajamas that allow easy nursing access.I still use it all the time and plan on packing it this go around, too. I love Target’s Gilligan & O’Malley PJ line and used an older version of this robe in the hospital with Little. Delivery is mess though, so I saved my robe for after. Many people prefer to wear their own robes instead of the issued hospital gown for delivery. So, you’ll need things for at least a couple of days. ![]() Typical hospital stays for labor & delivery are two-days, three days for c-section (confirm this with your doctor to be sure about your own hospital). Hopefully this list will help you feel prepared and ready before you need to go to the hospital! I don’t want you (or me!) to forget anything! I make packing lists for almost every single trip we go on – including the trip to the hospital.) Just a head’s up though – this list is extensive. (And if you’re wondering, I’m making this list just as much for you as I am for me. ![]() I’ve also included some extra things that we didn’t pack, but you might want to depending on your hospital and preferences. I’m a list person, so this list is broken down for Mama, for Daddy, and for Baby. To make things simple, I’ve put together a list of EXACTLY what’s in my hospital bag. For more information, see full disclosure. That means that if you make purchases through those links, I will earn a small commission. We learned a lot about what to pack the first time around – things we were glad we brought and things we wish we had brought. This hospital bag packing list has everything that you need.Īs we get ready to welcome our newest little one, I’ve been working to put my hospital list together and get my bags packed. On the other hand, you don’t want to find yourself in the hospital room wishing you packed something that you didn’t. On the one hand, you don’t want to pack too much stuff and have to carry it around. There are lists everywhere – each a little bit different. ![]() Knowing what to pack in your hospital bag can be tricky – especially for first time moms. ![]()
